Noted on the 100 mile course elevation profile as “HC” (which means a climb beyond categorization), Gibraltar road is known by locals as the “Santa Barbara Alpe d’Huez” as it is very similar to the famous Tour de France climb.
The Gibraltar Challenge is a time trial up Gibraltar Road where riders gain over 3,000ft. in only 7 miles. Time splits are recorded and awards are presented at the finish line awards ceremony.
We have 3 categories of awards, Overall, Age Group and Team.
Overall: 1st place male and female winners of the time trial will receive free entry to next year’s event along with their awards, and of course massive bragging rights!
Age Group: 1st and 2nd place awards, both male and female will be presented in the following age categories:
- Under 18
- 61 and older
Team: The 1st and 2nd place teams will receive awards.
- To be eligible for the overall male and female awards, you must complete the entire course within the following times:
Male: under 6:30
Female: under 7:45
- To be eligible for the age group awards, you must complete the entire course.
- To be eligible for the Team awards, 10 (or more) team members must complete the entire course. Your team’s top 5 fastest times in the time trial will be used to calculate your team’s time.
